Historic property record cards to be added to GIS site

The Revenue Commissioners Office has begun a two-year process of scanning its historic Property Record Cards (PRC’s). Marengo County has over 21,000 parcels. With each PRC there are multiple documents attached such as old deed references, previous owners and values.

The scanned documents will be linked to the parcels on the county GIS website which is used by the public, as well as by all the local realtors, bankers, attorneys, appraisers and others who use the website to service the local community.

The scanning and online access of these PDF Property Record Cards should greatly reduce repetitive and time consuming trips to the courthouse to research and view this vital information.

In 2013, the office added the feature of viewing deeds, which have been scanned from 2008 to present on its GIS site. When someone is searching a parcel, if there is a PDF-Link under the deed reference, it will have a scanned copy of the deed.
