Grant Writing Seminar starts Friday; open to local officials, non-profits

A three-part grant writing workshop for municipalities and non-profits starts tomorrow with the first session set at the University of West Alabama in Livingston.

The goal of the series is to educate mayors and their staff and charitable partners in the Black Belt. They will be given tools to access state, regional and federal resources that are available to them and assist them in being able to write for grants.

The workshop is free to participants. All sessions are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The first session covers Grant Basics and Foundation Opportunities and will be held in the UWA Tiger’s Den. On March 11 the session on State and Federal Resources will be at the Demopolis Civic Center, 501 N. Commissioners Ave., and on March 18 the Grant Writing session will take place at 280 Vineyard Lane in Eutaw.

The workshop is sponsored by Alabama Power Foundation, and UWA is serving as host. To register or to find out more information, call 205-652-3828 or go to centerforblackbelt@uwa.edu.
