Gene Edward Wisenhunt

Gene Edward Whisenhunt age 75 of Jackson, AL died June 3, 2017 at his home. He was born August 30, 1941 in Manchester, AL to Johnny Edward and Earcle Mae Whisenhunt. He was a retired plant supervisor with AEC / Powersouth in Leroy, AL after more than 30 years. He was an avid University of Alabama fan, and passionate about gardening and RV camping. He enjoyed fishing, and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great granddaughter. He was an active member of the Gideons International, Clarke South Camp. He was a former member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church and Evergreen Baptist Church and was a current member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Whisenhunt: three daughters, Pamela Day (Tim Day), Gina Davis (Eric Davis), and Kendra Sheffield (Chad Sheffield); three sisters, Odell McDonald, Carnell Garner, Charlcie Martin; five grandchildren, Tiffany Goldman (Lee), Daniel Day, John Day, William Davis, and Dillan Sheffield; great granddaughter, Miranda Goldman and a great grandson on the way. He is also survived by his beloved pet companion, Penny Whisenhunt.

Visitation will be held at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am service time with Rev. William Allison officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson, AL.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Gideons International, Clarke South Camp, PO Box 1401, Jackson, AL 36545 or to the American Red Cross.
