GivingTuesday  is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage giving and to celebrate generosity worldwide.

Mayor Woody Collins proclaimed this Tuesday as GivingTuesday for the City of Demopolis. The proclamation encourages citizens “to join together to give back to the community in any way that is personally meaningful.”

The Foundation is among the non-profit organizations encouraging people to take part in GivingTuesday by becoming part of the Demopolis Difference. Parr’s Chevron again this year will match up to $5,000 in donations. Joe Parr issued the community a challenge to exceed their donation from last year.

With his challenge, the Foundation has provided an easy to way to give. Donors can text “BeatJoeAgain” to 844-844-6844 or visit www.demopolis.org.

“We want to thank Parr’s Chevron for their gracious support and continued commitment to the Demopolis Difference,” said Ashley Coplin, Executive Director of the DCSF. “By supporting the Foundation, you are helping provide grants that encourage excellence, creativity and innovation in our classrooms.”

The Demopolis City Schools Foundation is an independent nonprofit established in 1993 to encourage private charitable support of the Demopolis public school system. Governed by a 33-member Board of Directors, the Foundation has provided more than $1.3 million in classroom grants since it began.
