Extension office offering cake decorating classes

Do you have a passion for baking? Like to see the faces of your friends and family brighten when they see your latest creation?

If so, professional cake decorating may be a way to take hobby baking to the next level – a small business. We are excited to announce that the Marengo County Extension office will host two workshops taught by Janice Hall, a Regional Extension Agent and Wilton trained cake decorating instructor.

Both workshops will be held in the new Marengo County Innovation Center commercial kitchen. The first workshop, on March 24, 10 a.m. to 12:00 noon, will focus on creating character cakes that the special children in your life will love. The second, on April 1, 10 a.m. to noon, will focus on making fondant.

Both skills are essential to create fabulous looking cakes for special occasions. Whether your goal is to express your artistic side through beautifully designed cakes, or provide extra income for your family, we hope you will join us for both workshops.

Space is limited to 15 participants, so call the Extension Office at 334-295-5959 at least one week before class to reserve a spot.
