The ESPN 104.9 Coaches Show honored its first Player of the Week of the 2013 season Tuesday at Batter Up Sports Grill in Demopolis.

The first award of the season went to Choctaw County High School quarterback Jamarcus Ezell.

The CCHS sophomore signal-caller led his team to a 19-13 season-opening win over Red Level. Ezell went 14-for-20 through the air for 220 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 107 yards and two touchdowns.

Ezell, who spent the opening segment of the show with co-hosts Rob Pearson and Jeremy D. Smith, received a commemorative T-shirt for his performance.

Choctaw County opens region play Friday when it hosts Millry.

The ESPN 104.9 Coaches Show airs Tuesday nights at 7 p.m.
