Andrew Patterson threw two touchdowns and ran for a third in a 32-6 Demopolis Middle School win over Sweet Water Tuesday night.

The Demopolis Middle School Tigers opened their season Tuesday with a 32-6 road win over Sweet Water.

The Tigers opened the scoring with a 24-yard touchdown pass from Andrew Patterson to Xavier Jowers. Demetrius Davis added the two-point conversion run for the 8-0 Demopolis lead.

After a Sweet Water fumble, Patterson found Jowers again for a 33-yard touchdown pass. Derrick Birl added the conversion rum for the 16-0 lead.

Sweet Water drove 70 yards for a touchdown and threatened again by pushing it inside the Tiger 10 as the opening half expired.

Demopolis started the second half with a bang as A.J. Jackson scampered 70 yards for a touchdown run. Davis added the conversion run for a 24-6 Tiger lead.

Patterson accounted for the final touchdown of the night when he tight-roped the left sideline for a 30-yard scoring run. Birl added the two-point run for the 32-6 advantage.

“I am proud of how the guys came out and fought through the heat,” Demopolis Middle School coach Jeremy Silcox said. “Our kids did a good job of using our adjustments in the second half. Sweet Water is a hard-nosed, well-coached team and they fight hard.”

Patterson completed his only two passes of the night to Jowers for 57 yards in the game. Jackson had two carries for 96 yards.
