DHS Student Council holding coloring book drive

The Demopolis High School Student Council is conducting a coloring book/crayon drive for the Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.

At the Children’s Hospital, children are given crayons and coloring books to help calm their nerves before the doctor examines them.

The DHS Student Council has chosen the Children’s Hospital as its main philanthropy project.

“Upon our first visit to Children’s, we asked what we could do to help,” DHS Student Council sponsor Rebecca Pipkins said. “They told us they constantly need to replenish these coloring books and crayons so they can continue to help with these children’s emotional needs as the doctors see to the physical needs.”

The council is seeking help in this endeavor. Collection boxes have been placed at all four Demopolis City Schools campuses. The drive will continue through Aug. 30.
