Demopolis thrashes Holt in softball season opener

Demopolis won its 2016 season opener Tuesday in a 22-0 road rout of Holt High School.

The Lady Tigers saw Natalie Tatum surrender a hit to the first batter she faced before settling in to complete the three-inning shutout.

Abbey Latham went 3-for-3 in the game with a double, a triple, four RBIs and four runs scored. Courtney Smith went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, three RBIs and three runs scored. Tatum helped herself at the plate, going 3-for-3 with one double, four RBIs and two runs scored.

Elly Brown finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Holli Gandy was 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored. Kayla Montz went 1-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and three runs scored.

Taylor Smith was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Kendall Hannah was 1-for-2 with one RBI and one run scored. Napoleon Roberson finished 1-for-1 with one RBI and two runs scored. Bria Brown also scored a pair of runs in the game.

The Lady Tigers are scheduled to play again Friday in a tournament at Washington County High School.
