Demopolis holds Greenville hitless in twinbill

Demopolis (16-5, 2-0) dismantled Greenville in double-header Thursday night, outscoring its area foes 28-0 while holding GHS hitless on the evening.DHS vs Greenville-4217

Demopolis scored six runs in the first and seven more in the third of a 15-0 win in the opener. Stephen Stewart and Tyler Oates combined to pitch the no-hitter. Stewart picked up the win, working three innings and striking out six. Oates followed with two innings of relief and four strikeouts. The lone Greenville runner of the game reached on an error in the fourth.

The nightcap saw Demopolis anchor the 13-0 win with five runs in the second and five more in the fourth. Walker Davis struck out four over three innings before Matt Eicher finished the no-hitter with three strikeouts over two frames. Each hurler walked one batter.

The win followed a Tuesday rendezvous in Greenville where Demopolis pounded GHS 16-3. Brock Montgomery started the game, striking out six of the seven batters he faced while surrendering one hit.

Will Tucker struck out four over two frames for the win. Michael Brooker fanned four over two while Devin Stroud struck out three in his lone inning of work.

DHS vs Greenville-4247Eicher went 3-for-8 from the plate in the series, scoring four runs and knocking in five. Montgomery drew five walks, scored four runs and picked up one RBI.

Mason Rogers went 6-for-9 with a pair of doubles, a home run, three RBIs, a walk and four runs scored.

Stroud went 3-for-7 with five runs scored, two walks and four RBIs. Oates recorded a pair of hits, walked twice and scored twice.

Stewart doubled, scored twice, drove in two runs and walked once. Wesley Dunn singled and scored three runs. Tucker went 3-for-8 with four runs scored, a walk and one RBI.

Davis finished 4-for-8 with five RBIs, four runs scored, a double, and two walks. Josh Mangum recorded two hits including a double in addition to drawing three walks and scoring five runs.

Seth Aiken singled, drove in a run and scored. John Anthony Morrison doubled, walked and scored.

The Tigers are scheduled to play again Friday night when they host area foe Selma at 5 p.m.
