Demopolis Dixie Youth softball crowns three champions

The Demopolis Dixie Youth Softball Association concluded its season Saturday, crowning three new champions for 2014 at the Demopolis SportsPlex.

In the Darlings Division (ages 7-8), the No. 1 seed Rowley Recycling Scrappers won two games Saturday over the No. 2 seed Trustmark Twisters to clinch first place.

The Scrappers are Haylee Rowley, Anna Braswell Malone, Weezy Hughes, Neely Atkinson, Alexa Martinez, Eva Overmyer, Waleah Worthy, Hannah Nelson, Ja’Kaseyonna Jones, Kate Copeland and Dajan Wilkins.

Coaches are Cobey Rowley, Angela Rowley, J.C. Martinez and Chip Hughes.

In the Angels Division (ages 9-10), the No. 4 seed Synergy Angels upset No. 1 seed Vowell’s Vipers in the championship game Saturday.

The Angels are Sarah Atchison, Jasmine Anderson, Alana Cowan, Abby Grace Cameron, Katie Lawrence, Mary Madalyn Massengale, Kiandra Merriweather, Marianna Pearson, Kaitlyn Samples, Anna Katherine Sellers, Mary Creigh Smith and Janyla Walker.

Coaches are Brian Sellers, Eric Ray and Bryan Cowan.

Friday night, in the Ponytails Division (ages 11-12), the No. 2 seed Colony Warhawks took home the title.

The Warhawks are Alex Abrams, Bria Brown, Aliyana Coleman, Danielle Gunn, , Larson Jackson, Aniya Johnson, Mazzy Marlowe, Shakayla Norfleet, Makenzie Phillips, Kylah Wheeler, Dayani Wilkins and Jaiden Williams.

Coaches are Ronnie Abrams, Donna McGee and Brian Brown.

Closing ceremonies and all star selection will take place Tuesday, May 20 at 5:30 p.m. on Field 8.

Demopolis will host the District 8 all star softball tournament next month.
