Demopolis baseball drops two during Saturday road trip

The Demopolis High baseball team dropped to 4-7 Saturday with a pair of road losses to Bibb County and Hale County.

The Tigers fell 6-1 to Bibb County in the first game of the day. Tripp Perry (1-2) worked six innings, allowing six hits, five walks and six runs while striking out seven.

Demopolis trailed 2-1 in the contest heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.

Matt Eicher went 2-for-3 in the game with a double, a stolen base and a run scored. Tyler Oates also finished the game 2-for-3.

Demopolis wrapped up the day with its fourth straight loss, a 3-1 setback at the hands of Hale County. Luke Yelverton (2-1) worked four innings on the mound, striking out four, walking one and surrendering six hits and three runs. Stephen Stewart worked two scoreless innings in relief, giving up one hit and a walk while striking out two.

Seth Aiken was 1-for-4 in the game. Michael Brooker went 2-for-4 and scored the Tigers’ only run of the game. John Anthony Morrison finished 2-for-2 while Wil Stephens was 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Demopolis is set to host Thomasville Monday with the junior varsity game to take place at 4 p.m. and the varsity game to follow.
