Demopolis baseball blasts Clarke County

GROVE HILL — Demopolis wasted little time getting the bats going Saturday, downing Clarke County 13-1.

The Tigers (2-2) scored a run in the first inning, two in the third, one in the fourth, three in the fifth and six in the sixth while allowing a single first inning run to Clarke.

Luke Yelverton (2-0) allowed one earned run over five frames while scattering four hits and striking out four to pick up the win. Tripp Perry walked one and struck out one in a scoreless sixth inning.

Edward Bennett took the loss for Clarke County, allowing seven earned runs on eight hits over four and two-thirds innings of work. He struck out six Demopolis hitters. Robert Smith gave up six runs, two earned, over an inning and two-thirds.

Ryan Schroeder had four hits, three runs scored and four RBIs on the day to lead a Demopolis lineup that saw all nine starters record hit.

Demopolis is set to play again Tuesday at Sipsey Valley.
