Demopolis 8U All-Stars headed to regional

The Demopolis Cal Ripken 8U baseball team has received a bid to participate in the Cal Ripken Southwest Regional tournament in Sherwood, Arkansas. The tournament will be held July 15-18.

Players for the 2021 Demopolis 8U All-Star baseball team are Jaxon Stanley, Wyatt Cassity, Andrew Bedsole, Lane Powell, Briar Farrington, Rhett Windham, Bentley Clark-Garner, Stokes Hewitt, Brett Baker and Jayce Day. Coaches for the team are Ryan Powell, Jeff Stanley, Mark Bedsole and Jason Cassity.

The team went 6-0 in the district tournament and 5-1 in the state tournament. Their only loss of the two tournaments came at the hands of the eventual state champions. Their performance in the district and state tournaments earned them a bid to compete in the Southwest Regional, where they will compete against teams from Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
