DCSF donors view grants made possible by their support

Donors to the Demopolis City Schools Foundation got a first-hand look at how their support is being used in Demopolis classroom during Annual Donor Celebration March 1.

The event also celebrated the Foundation’s 29th year. Since its inception more than $1 million has been awarded in grants to DCS teachers and libraries.

Different stations set up at the Donor Celebration showcased some of the grants awarded in 2021. Demopolis High School teacher Mike Duran demonstrated the grant he and Kelly Gandy received. The STEM Practical Application-Drone Racing Competition focuses on building, coding and piloting drones for competition against other high schools in Alabama. Demopolis is one of only four schools in the state participating in the Trydrones/LocoRobo program.

“We appreciate the continued support of our donors and this community, we affectionately call the Demopolis Difference,” said Ashley Coplin, DCSF executive director. “We were excited to recognize and celebrate our donors and allow them to experience some of our grants firsthand.”
