Crawford crowned Young Miss COTR 2019

The Young Miss Christmas on the River 2019 pageant commenced on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the Demopolis Civic Center, when 35 excited, pretty young ladies took to the stage to compete. After the parade of contestants showed their personality, poise and beauty, the 35 Young Miss COTR hopefuls were narrowed down to a top 15.

10-8-2019 — Demopolis, Ala. — Carter Lynn Crawford (center) was crowned Young Miss COTR at the Demopolis Civic Center. Members of her court are (left to right) Emma Rae Claire Dahl (third alternate), Susanna Gray Bell (first alternate), Miss Crawford, Sadie Drew Dixon (second alternate) and Lexie Jayne Yelverton (fourth alternate).

The top 15 contestants, as chosen by a panel of judges, were Claire Elisabeth Hasty, Susanna Gray Bell, Rachel Allyn LaCoste, Kaitlyn Grace Allen, Sadie Drew Dixon, Ali Taylor Bassinger, Carter Lynn Crawford, Lillian Jean Clink, Lexie Jayne Yelverton, Whitney Grace Harrington, Camdyn Grace Morgan, Khloe Gail Wolf, Nadia Elizabeth Roy, Naudia Naomi Reed, Ashton Taylor Marie Overton, and Emma Rae Claire Dahl.

The top 15 graced the stage one more time to compete for the title and a place on the court. After a tough decision from the judges, Allen Bishop announced the top 5. They all came to the stage to walk again and answer the question, “What is your favorite part about Christmas on the River?” Then, they all stood for one last look and the judges made their final scores.

Fourth Alternate, Lexie Jayne Yelverton, is a third grader at U.S. Jones Elementary School. She wore a sweet off the shoulder white gown with crystal detailing. Emma Rae Claire Dahl, a third grader at U.S. Jones Elementary School, was awarded third alternate. Emma wore a royal blue gown with a rhinestone bodice.

10-8-2019 — Demopolis, Ala. — Carter Lynn Crawford is crowned Young Miss COTR 2019 by Millie Grace Hill.

A fifth grader at University Charter School, Sadie Drew Dixon was presented with the second alternate place on the court. Sadie wore a dark teal satin, off-the-shoulder ballgown with rhinestone and sequin detailing. Susanna Gray Bell earned first alternate in the Young Miss COTR court. The fifth grader from U.S. Jones Elementary School wore a beautiful white evening gown with silver elements through out the dress.

Crowned Young Miss Christmas on the River 2019 was fourth-grader Carter Lynn Crawford. She wore a gorgeous yellow satin gown with crystal and rhinestone details. Carter is the nine-year-old daughter of Jeff and Crystal Crawford. She attends University Charter School and is involved in Softball, drama class, and loves arts and crafts. Carter was super excited to be named Young Miss COTR and said that she thought to herself, “Is this really happening? Is this a dream?” She can’t wait to get all dressed up for all of the events and also ride in the COTR Day Parade in December.

Join us for the final COTR 2019 pageant on Oct. 9 at the Demopolis Civic Center. The Little Miss COTR pageant will start at 6 p.m., one hour earlier than the previous pageants.
