Crawford crowned Miss COTR 2019

Fifteen beautiful girls competed for the title of Miss Christmas on the River Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. on the Demopolis Civic Center stage. Each contestant had a one-on-one interview prior to the pageant and then showed their poise and grace as the parade of beauties commenced.

10-5-2019 — Demopolis, Ala. — Cassidy Claire Crawford (red dress) was crowned Miss Christmas on the River 2019 at the Demopolis Civic Center. Miss COTR 2019 and her court are (left to right) are Molly Katherine Harrison (third alternate), Isabella Brasfield Reid (first alternate), Cassidy Claire Crawford (MIss COTR 2019), Abigayle Marie Quinney (second alternate), Taylor Nicole Langley (fourth alternate) and Miss Congeniality Aundria Michelle Murdock.

After each contestant walked the stage, a top 10 was chosen. Chloe Denise Lewis, Avry Catherine Davis, Isabella Brasfield Reid, Molly Kathrine Harrison, Mary Madalyn Massengale, Cassidy Claire Crawford, Taylor Nicole Langley, Brianna Marie McClure, Kelsei Amaya Elmore, and Abigayle Marie Quinney were chosen for the top 10.

After one final presentation of the top 10, the scores were tabulated and a top five was selected. These beautiful and deserving young ladies were ready to come back to the stage to show their poise and beauty one last time, and have an on-stage interview with James Spann. The top five all handled the spotlight very well and the judges had a hard decision in selecting the new Miss Christmas on the River and her court.

Before Miss COTR and her court were named, Aundria Michelle Murdock, was presented as Miss Congeniality for Miss COTR 2019. That award was voted on by her fellow contestants.

Fourth alternate, Taylor Nicole Langley, is a senior at Demopolis High School. She wore a beautiful light pink gown with crystals and an elegant train. Molly Katherine Harrison, a sophomore at DHS, was awarded third alternate. Molly Katherine wore a gorgeous white ballgown with a rhinestone halter bodice.

A junior at Demopolis High School, Abigayle Marie Quinney, was presented with the second alternate place on the court. Abby wore an Art Deco style fully beaded white fitted gown. Isabella Brasfield Reid earned first alternate in the Miss COTR court. The junior from Southern Academy wore a royal blue velvet gown with a flowing train.

10-5-2019 — Demopolis, Ala. — Miss COTR 2018 Alysse Dunklin crowns Cassidy Claire Crawford as Miss COTR 2019 at the Demopolis Civic Center.

Crowned Miss Christmas on the River 2019 was sophomore Cassidy Claire Crawford, wearing a red gown sprinkled with red crystals and with a stunning train. Crawford is the 15 year old daughter of Scott and Angela Biggs. She attends Demopolis High School and is involved in BETA club, FBLA, The Tigers Art’s Guild, is a Peer Leader and loves the iconic band, Queen. “This can’t be real,” Crawford said of her first thought when she heard her name called as Miss COTR. Crawford is proud to represent COTR this year and is very excited to ride in the Christmas on the River Day Parade on December 7th.

Join us for the remaining COTR 2019 pageants at the Demopolis Civic Center this week. Miss Junior COTR will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7. Young Miss COTR will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Little Miss COTR will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
