County sees 3 COVID-19 deaths in one week

Marengo County has had a rough week so far as COVID-19 statistics go. The county registered another three deaths since July 26, bringing the total to 14 as of Thursday morning.

The number of positive tests has reached 502, with 23 percent of those occurring in the last two weeks, or 115. So far 3,544 tests have been administered to county residents.

In spite of the sobering statistics, there is some good news. The 14-day positive tests have dropped along with the positive tests per day, the seven-day average of positive cases and the two-week percentage of positive tests.

Marengo County had its first case of the new coronavirus on March 26. It wasn’t until May 15 that the number reached 100, or 28 days. The second 100 cases took 27 days; the third, 22 days; 15 days to reach 400 cases, and 12 days until the current total.
