Cook earns ESPN 104.9 Player of the Week award

The ESPN 104.9 Coaches Show named its final Player of the Week of the 2014 season Tuesday night when it honored Marengo Academy junior Cason Cook at Batter Up Sports Grill during its weekly broadcast.

The junior defensive end recorded seven tackles including two for loss Friday night in a 42-8 shellacking of Clarke Prep in the AISA Class AA semifinals. Cook also blocked two punts as part of an overwhelming Longhorn special teams effort.

The performance adds to a strong junior campaign for Cook that has featured 14 sacks, three fumble recoveries and two touchdowns.

Cook received a commemorative T-shirt and spent time with the ESPN 104.9 Coaches Show crew in addition to being interviewed during the broadcast.

The Coaches Show returns Tuesday, Dec. 2 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. when it will announce its Super 11 Team and its Player of the Year Award.
