dickens' carolers 6Rediscover an old favorite, Christmas in the Canebrake, where Bluff Hall and Lyon Hall come to life for the holidays. Did you know Christmas in the Canebrake was started in 1973, the second year of Christmas on the River? The Marengo County Historical Society invites you to celebrate Christmas in the Canebrake 2013, on Friday, Dec. 6, from 5:30-8 p.m. at Bluff Hall and Lyon Hall.

Attention kids 1 to 92, we just received news from the North Pole that Santa will be at Bluff Hall for Christmas in the Canebrake!! Bring your camera to get a picture with jolly old St. Nick!

These historic antebellum houses will be decorated in period fashion with fresh cedar, pine, smilax, berries, and cane among other native naturals. Local organizations and businesses including the Pilot Club, The Reading Club, Colonial Book Club, United Methodist Women, The Study Club, Southside Garden Club, First Baptist Church Women, and friends of the Society have volunteered their time and talent to decorate each room for the holidays.
