Cecil Stephens

Cecil Abner Stephens, of Eutaw, died Dec. 20, 2013, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Pleasant Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church with William Haven Betts officiating. Burial will follow in Mesopotamia Cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jean Richards Stephens; his second wife, Frances Hollingsworth Stephens; his third wife, Ola Mae Wlison Stephens; and his son, Cecil Abner Stephens, ]r. (BoBo). Survivors include his daughter, Dorothy Ann Stephens McGalliard (Gary) of Eutaw; stepdaughters, Patricia Hollingsworth Hester (Steve) of Brent; Betty Sue Wilson McCay of Eutaw, Bessie Mae Wilson Malone (Herbert) of Gulf Shores, Karen Wilson Lashley (Allen) and Linda Wilson Glass (Charlie), all of Demopolis; stepson, Dennis Hollingsworth (Lynn) of Pleasant Ridge; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and one sister, Virginia Stephens Wright (Andrew) of Aliceville. Mr. Stephens was born on Aug. 27, 1926 in Greene County, Alabama to Dave Stephens and Pearl McCool Stephens. He was a 1944 graduate of Greene County High School in Eutaw. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a self-employed journeyman carpenter by trade. Pallbearers are William Cody Stephens, Johnathon Wayne Stephens, Austin Langham, Allen Lashley, Herbert Malone and Charlie Glass. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Cotton, Greg Espy, Homer Carpenter, all employees of the Eutaw District Black Warrior Electric (REA). In lieu of flowers. the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
