BWWMH to honor Luther, Rembert

Jerry Luther, MDBryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital will take time Thursday to honor to of Demopolis’ most committed healthcare providers.

During a 5:30 p.m. ceremony, the administration and staff of BWWMH will officially name the facility’s diagnostic imaging suite in honor of Dr. Jerry R. Luther.

Luther is credited with recognizing the ongoing need for advanced diagnostic imaging services against the backdrop of BWWMH’s rural healthcare territory.

Luther utilized his knowledge and skills as a Board Certified Radiologist to enhance and grow the Diagnostic Imaging Department at BWWMH. During his tenure as an active member of the BWWMH medical staff, he assisted the department in its growth toward the inclusion of x-ray, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, computed tomography scan, mammography and magnetic resonance imaging.

Called the backbone of the department, Luther dedicated his career to the goal of total quality care for all Diagnostic Imaging patients.

Rembert, Lois RNAt the same ceremony, the BWWMH administration will dedicate a plaque for recently retired nursing supervisor Lois Rembert.

After exactly 46 years of service to the hospital, Rembert retired in Oct. 2012. During her tenure at BWWMH, Rembert provided care for thousands of area residents.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the main lobby of the hospital.
