In its continuing efforts to enhance patient care, Bryan Whitfield Memorial Hospital’s Home Health Agency most recently added Point of Care nurse documentation to its Electronic Health Record.

“The nurses carry tablets to document information while in the patient’s home,” said Marcia Pugh, Division Director of Home Health. “Using Point of Care (POC) allows real-time documentation which maintains up-to-date patient information.”

She added, “This system promotes improved teamwork, more efficient and timely documentation, and an employee feeling of accomplishment and less stress by allowing them to have their documentation completed by the end of the day.”

Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital Home Health Agency is a non-profit homecare agency that serves an important segment of the healthcare population in Marengo, Greene, Hale, Sumter, Perry, Wilcox, Clarke, Choctaw and Dallas counties.

“The home makes the best classroom for health and safety strategies,” said Pugh. “The Home Health staff will help you set up a safe environment for recovery. Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital Home Health Agency can make several visits over weeks or months to make sure your recovery follows your doctor’s plan for you. Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital Home Health Agency will work with your personal physician to coordinate your care. You will not be required to see another doctor.”

BWWMH Home Health provides nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, as well as nutritional counseling and home health aide care.

Pugh pointed out that Medicare pays 100% of home health care. “Qualified patients have no co-pays and no deductibles. If you have other insurance or plan to pay for services yourself, our billing staff will work with you to assure you know your charges and our BWWMH financial advisors can assist you in setting up a payment plan.”
