Bulldogs cast out Demons, 46-0

The Sweet Water Bulldogs were unwelcoming hosts to the McIntosh Demons on Friday night. The Bulldogs scored 14 points in the first quarter, then piled on 32 more in the second before coasting through the second half for the 46-0 region win at home.

The Bulldogs took the opening kick and marched down the field. Jaland Lewis Horton kicked off the scoring party with a 15-yard run with 9:21 to go in the first quarter. Walker Thompson added the PAT as the Dawgs took a 7-0 lead over the Demons.

Jaylin Dixon added a second Bulldog first quarter touchdown at the 3:45 mark on a 27 yard run. Thompson’s PAT increased the lead to 14-0.

The Bulldogs’ second quarter scoring party started at the 11:11 mark when Horton notched his second TD run from 3 yards out. The PAT failed, giving the Dawgs a 20-0 lead.

Christian Dunning made his mark on the scoring sheet with 7:01 to go in the second, when he got into the end zone on a 5-yard run. Another missed PAT left the Bulldog lead at 26-0.

At the 4:10 mark, Thompson scored on a 4-yard run. Michael Alan Cole’s PAT was good, giving the Dawgs a 33-0 lead.

Horton added his third touchdown of the night on an 18-yard run with 3:11 to go in the second quarter. Cody Carden kicked the PAT and the Bulldogs upped their lead to 40-0 over the Demons.

The final score of the night came on a 35-yard Thompson to Jaden Lewis pass with 28 seconds remaining in the first half. The PAT failed and the Bulldogs had a 46-0 lead.

Shortened quarters, a running clock and lots of clean Bulldog jerseys resulted in no points going up on the board in the second half, leaving the final score at 46-0 in favor of the Dawgs.

The 46-point win came on only 243 yards of total offense. The Bulldogs had 63 total yards passing with one touchdown on two completions (both to Jaden Lewis) and rushed 25 times for 180 yards, scoring six touchdowns. The Dawgs only ran 29 offensive plays on the night.

The Bulldogs (4-2, 4-0) will travel to Millry next Friday night to take on the Wildcats.
