Brock leads Longhorns in win over Rebels

The Marengo Academy’s John Parker Brock matched the offensive output of the visiting South Choctaw Rebels Tuesday night in Linden, hitting for 26 points as the Longhorns defeated the Rebels 51-26.

The first quarter saw the Longhorns grab a slim lead at 10-9. However, the ‘Horns came out hot in the second quarter, pouring in 23 points while delivering a defensive shutout. The 23-0 quarter put the Longhorns up 33-9 at the half.

The third quarter saw the Longhorns add 13, while the Rebels added 10, for a 46-19 Longhorn lead. The Rebels would finally outscored the Longhorns 7-5 in the fourth quarter, but the result was a 51-26 Longhorn victory.

Hayden Campbell was the other Longhorn to reach double figures with 13. Dylan Mendenhall added six, Alex Owens was 1-of-2 from 3-point range, Sage Hall contributed two and Tate Sparkman tacked on one point.
