Armed robbery at Captain D’s leaves one with gunshot wound

Demopolis Public Safety Director Tommie Reese confirmed Thursday morning that an armed robbery on Highway 80 East left one victim with a gunshot wound.

The incident, which reportedly occurred at approximately 3:54 a.m., saw the delivery driver at Captain D’s held up at gunpoint. The driver indicated that the assailant was an unidentified black male with handgun who met the victim at the back of the truck and demanded money. The driver suffered a gunshot wound to the arm during the exchange and the assailant fled the scene. The driver’s injuries were not life threatening and he was transported to Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Demopolis Police Department investigators are working the case.
