AHSAA announces reclassification for 2020-21, 2021-22
The Alabama High School Athletic Association has released its reclassification for state schools for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school years.
Demopolis’ (7-4) 5A Region 3 saw the addition of two teams. Sipsey Valley (4-6) jumped from 4A while Selma (6-5) fell from 6A. Bibb County (12-1), a team that had become somewhat of a regional rivalry for Demopolis, fell to Class 4A. Other Region 3 contenders include Central-Tuscaloosa, Jemison, Marbury, and Shelby County.
Linden (6-5) remained in Class 1A Region 3, but was joined by Central-Hayneville (5-5) and R.C. Hatch (3-7). A.L. Johnson, Ellwood, J.F. Shields, and Keith round out Region 3.
Joining the ranks of Sweet Water (11-2) and Marengo High School’s (6-5) Class 1A Region 2 is Southern Choctaw and Choctaw County, who saw a 4-6 and 2-8 2019 season, respectively. Fruitdale, McIntosh, and Millry round out 1A Region 2.
