Richardson makes Packers

Linden High alumnus Sean Richardson is officially a Green Bay Packer. Richardson, who signed with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Vanderbilt, competed for one of the team’s safety spots during training camp and the preseason.

National Football League teams cut their rosters to 53 players Friday, leaving Richardson among those on the block.

“I made the team,” Richardson confirmed in a text to The West Alabama Watchman Friday afternoon.

“I’m getting lots of calls and emotions,” Richardson later texted.

Richardson, a member of the Linden High School graduating class of 2008, had 245 tackles in three seasons as a starter at Vanderbilt. Richardson recorded 16 total tackles for the Packers during the preseason.
