Tigers move to tournament title game

CHATOM — Demopolis continued its red hot run Friday evening with a 73-41 victory over Fruitdale in the second round of the John Taylor Tournament at Washington County High School.

The victory puts the Tigers in a 7 p.m. game Saturday against the winner of Leroy and host Washington County. The win also marks the fifth in the last six outings for the Tigers.

“Five out of the last six, four in a row. We came out very aggressive. We attacked the glass hard and shot the ball well. We’ve got just good chemistry going on right now,” Demopolis head coach Rodney Jackson said. “Hopefully we can top off the Xmas break with a win tomorrow and a first place trophy at the Washington County tournament. That would be awesome.”

Demopolis (7-6) got balanced scoring from its roster with Tommy Wilson pacing the team with 17 points. Roderick Davis chipped in 15 points while Kiante Jefferies had 13 in the win.
