Terry Joe Counselman

img_2654Terry Joe Counselman, age 74, of Thomaston, Ala., died Oct. 29, 2016 at his home. He was born Jan. 15, 1942 in Mobile, Ala., to Truman E. and Edna H. Counselman. He was a graduate of the University of North Alabama and a veteran of the US Army. He was a retired teacher and former mayor of Thomaston and a member of Thomaston Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Counselman of Thomaston; two sons, Phillip T. (Laura) Counselman of Silver Hill, Ala., and Thomas Bruce (Annette) Gwin of Gallion; a son-in-law, Dennis (Daphne) Morgan; nine grandchldren, Stewart (Molly) Gwin, Nathan Gwin, Andrew Gwin, Benjamin Gwin, Tracey (Garrett) Hollon, James (Bridgett) Morgan, Kathleen Morgan, Olivia Counselman, and Alice Counselman, five great grandchildren, Ethan Hollon, Bethany Hollon, Wesley Hollon, Emily Hollon, Ellyson Morgan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Truman E. and Edna H. Counselman, daughter, Daphne G. Morgan, and and a grandchild, Christopher Gwin

Visitation will be held at Thomaston Baptist Church on Tuesday, Nov. 1 from noon until the 1 p.m. service time with Rev. Randall Mims and Rev. David Trawick officiating.

Burial will be at Witch Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Campbell, Ala.

The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice, as well as those friends who sent cards, made phone calls, sent food, and came to visit.
