Sweet Water sweeps high scoring double-header

Sweet Water kept its early season win streak alive Tuesday by taking a pair of back-and-forth contests from Class 3A Clarke County.

Sweet Water 11, Clarke County 8

The Bulldogs scored four runs in the fourth and five in the sixth to anchor their game one win. Braden Broussard got the win on the mound, using 79 pitches to work five innings while striking out three. He also helped his own cause at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs.

Sasha Smith was 1-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored. Luke Davis scored a pair of runs and stole a base. Will Huckabee drove in two Jonah Smith finished 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. Hunter Mendenhall went 1-for-2 with one RBI and two stolen bases. John Thomas Etheridge was 1-for-4 with one RBI. Taylor Lewis scored a run. R.J. Rodgers finished 3-for-4 with a triple, one RBI, three stolen bases and two runs scored. Shamar Lewis put together a 3-for-4 line with three stolen bases, two runs scored and one RBI. Chastain Washington stole a base and scored a run.

Sweet Water 13, Clarke County 8

Sweet Water scored six runs in the first and never gave away the lead on its way to a 13-8 victory in the nightcap. Sasha Smith was 3-for-3 with a double, two stolen bases and three runs scored. Broussard went 2-for-3 with one RBI, three stolen bases and three runs scored. Davis went 1-for-2 with one RBI, two runs scored and three stolen bases.

Chase Joiner was 1-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Reid Joiner went 1-for-2 with a double, a run scored, a stolen base and three RBIs. Brandon Schroeder went 1-for-2 with a run scored, one RBI and three stolen bases. Washington stole two bases and scored a run. Lewis went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Sweet Water (5-0) is set to play again Thursday when it hosts Leroy.
