Planned power outage to affect downtown traffic lights

Alabama Power Company will be cutting the power off downtown on Sunday, Oct. 6 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. The outage will affect traffic signals in addition to other services.

The Demopolis Police Department and Demopolis Public Works Department will be working to get stop signs in place at four-way stop intersections typically governed by traffic lights.

The sections affected will include the intersection of Washington Street and Walnut Street, the intersection of Washington Street and Main Street and the intersection of Capitol Street and Walnut Street.

Demopolis Police Department Chief Tommie Reese indicated his officers will be in the area Sunday morning to place the temporary stop signs.
