Old Spring Hill VFD receives truck to aid in fighting wildland fires

Thanks to the Firefighter Property Program, the Old Spring Hill Volunteer Fire Department received a cargo truck that will be converted to a wildland firefighting brush truck.

Bill Carlisle, AFC Southwest Region Fire Specialist, presents the truck title to the Old Spring Hill VFD, Chief Todd Foster and members of the VFD.

The FFP is administered through the USDA Forest Service and the Alabama Forestry Commission. The truck will enhance the wildland firefighting capabilities in the Old Spring Hill community of Marengo County.

After the volunteer department met all the requirements through the FFP program, the Alabama Forestry Commission presented the title and transfer of ownership to the Old Spring Hill Volunteer Fire Department on Oct. 16.
