MA’s Little headed to AISA Hall of Fame

549059_533399616697437_252996315_nJesse H. Little has been selected to be inducted into the AISA Hall of Fame.

Little is currently a science teacher at Marengo Academy.

Little graduated from Sweet Water High School in 1964 and attended Livingston University. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with a minor in chemistry. In 1976, he earned his Master’s of Science and Continuing Education with emphasis in Biology.

Little started his teaching career in 1969 with the Wilcox County Board of Education. Little joined the Marengo Academy family in 1977 as a teacher and coach. From 1977-1981 he served as head baseball coach. Little took the position of athletic director and head football coach in 1981 until 1985. He left MA and went to James River Corporation where he worked from 1985-1993.

Little returned to MA in 1993 as a teacher and became head baseball coach from 1993-2000 and in 2006. From 2001-2008 he served as athletic director and head football coach.

Little has accumulated many honors as a coach. In the 12 years of coaching football at Marengo Academy, his record was 92-39 and he earned state championships in 1981, 1983, 2001 and 2002.

Coaching baseball for 14 years, he had a record 207-78 and won state titles in 1977, 1993, 1995 and 2000. As a junior high football coach, his record was 56-5-2. In 1981, the Tuscaloosa News awarded him the Football Coach of the Year. In 2000 he was awarded the Tuscaloosa News Baseball Coach of the Year and the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association 2A Coach of the Year.

Little is married to the former Teresa Barr. They have three children: Leah Ford, Andy Ward and Susie Ford and six grandchildren: Alexia Ford, Austin Ford, Brandon Ford, Joey Ward, Tucker Ward and Sally Ward.

Little attends the Linden Presbyterian Church and Half Acre Community Church.
