Longhorns fall to Wilcox

CAMDEN — Marengo Academy (3-2, 2-0) could not find the end zone in the second half on the way to a 20-12 road loss to Class AA Wilcox Academy Friday night.

The Longhorns got first half touchdowns on a three-yard run by Hayden Huckabee and an eight-yard catch by Shade Pritchett.

Still, the Longhorns trailed 14-12 at halftime. The Wildcats managed only 11 yards in the third quarter, but hung one more score on the board after the break to put away the win.

Kyle Adams led Marengo with 11 total tackles. Pritchett finished with 10 while Tyler Etheridge had nine.

Huckabee shifted from quarterback to running back for the game, rushing for 91 yards on 20 carries. Josh Holifield added 55 yards on the ground.

Marengo Academy will host Meadowview Christian next Friday night in a key region contest.
