Linden volleyball headed to Super Regional round

The Linden High volleyball team finished as runner-up in Class 1A, Area 4 last week, punching its ticket to the South Super Regionals in Montgomery.

The Linden High volleyball team (8-10) finished as runner-up in the Class 1A, Area 4 tournament last week, falling to Akron 3-1.

The Lady Patriots dropped the first game 25-20 and the second set 25-16 before rallying to a 25-15 victory in the third set. Akron took the match with a 25-19 win in the fourth game.

Finishing as the No. 2 team in the area, Linden will advance to play in the Class 1A South Super Regional Friday where it will take on Area 8 winner Jefferson Christian at 10:15 a.m. at the Cramton Bowl Multiplex in Montgomery.

The Lady Patriot volleyball team includes Cierra Jones, Briana Delaine, Willisia Bruno, Chelsea Fritts, Tomysha Boykin, Charquell Compton, Shauntele Gray, Imiya Agee, Tajiona Monroe and Shaquina Jackson. Teressa Bolden coaches the team, which is in only its third year as a program.
