Linden blows out Fruitdale

FRUITDALE — Linden finished its Class 1A, Region 1 schedule unbeaten Friday with a 56-0 dispatching of Fruitdale.

The Patriots got four touchdown runs from Terrance Sanders, who tallied 101 yards on eight carries in the contest. Sanders also ran for a pair of two-point conversions.

Prentiss McQuiston had a 3-yard touchdown run in the first quarter while Dewayne Charleston sprinted for a 48-yard score before half. Those scores were sandwiched between a pair of Sanders touchdown runs that covered 2 and 11 yards respectively, leaving the Patriots up 28-0 on the Pirates at intermission.

Sanders hung a 2-yard scoring plunge and an 18-yard touchdown run on the board in the third quarter before the reserve unit took the field.

Linden saw backup quarterback C.J. Robinson hook up with Dequan Charleston for a 40-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. Henry Lee capped the scoring with a 4-yard touchdown run in the game’s final frame.

McQuiston carried the ball 14 times for 76 yards for the Pats while Nicholas Rogers hauled in four passes for 51 yards to pace the aerial attack.

Chris Rogers recorded 12 total tackles on defense for Linden (7-2, 7-0). The Patriots are scheduled to end the regular season next week when they travel to Southern Choctaw. Linden is slated to host Keith in the first round of the Class 1A state playoffs.
