Lady Tigers take Washington County tournament

The Demopolis High Lady Tigers (10-11-1) grabbed a pair of wins and a tournament championship in a Saturday visit to Chatom.

Demopolis opened the draw with a 5-2 win over Satsuma that included sophomore Ole Miss commit Abbey Latham’s eighth homer of the season.

The Lady Tigers moved on to a 16-0 rout of Millry that featured Anna Caroline Logan’s first homer of the season and a Natalie Tatum no-hitter.

“The offense is improving,” Demopolis coach Stephen Campbell said. “We produced 23 hits and 21 runs, outscoring opponents 21-2.”

Logan finished the weekend 4-for-4 with three RBIs. Tatum hit .750 with three RBIs. Latham batted .750 with two RBIs.

Courtney Smith also hit .750 on the day. Jade Montgomery hit .500 while Cameron Thomason batted .500 with three RBIs. Elle Brown hit .400 with one RBI. Alex Abrams scored four runs while L.B. Burbage scored two runs.
