Lady Tigers rout Dallas County to clinch area

Demopolis held a 7-3 lead after five innings before a nine-run outburst in the sixth propelled the Lady Tigers to a 16-4 win at Dallas County Wednesday.

Demopolis (18-9, 3-0) locked up the right to host the area tournament making the most of a four-RBI performance from junior catcher Abbey Latham.

The Lady Tigers saw their standout backstop go 4-for-5 in the contest with a double a home run, four RBIs, three runs scored and a stolen base. Taylor Smith was 2-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Elly Brown was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored.

Jessica Adams went 2-for-4 with four runs scored. Kendall Hannah, who picked up the win on the mound, finished 1-for-4 with a run scored and one RBI. Bria Brown went 1-for-5 and scored two runs. Kayla Montz drove in a run. Holli Gandy scored a run. Courtney Smith stole a base and scored a run.

Demopolis is set to host Wilcox Central Thursday at 5 p.m.
