Lady Longhorns pound Sumter

YORK — Marengo Academy (16-5, 4-0) wrapped up a perfect area slate Tuesday with an 11-1 win over Sumter Academy.

The Lady Longhorns got six strong innings out of Andrea Edmonds, who went for the complete game win as she scattered three hits and allowed one earned run while striking out four in the contest.

Chanler Stenz went 3-for-4 in the game with one RBI and two runs scored. Anna Michael Crocker was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, a walk and a run scored.

Edmonds finished 3-for-3 with a walk, three doubles and one RBI. She gave way to courtesy runner Hannah Freeman, who scored three runs.

Brooke Smyly went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and two runs. Ryan Hale was 1-for-2 with a run. Laremey Griffith finished 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Macey Petrey walked and scored a run. Caitlin Andrews scored a run. Payton Stokes drew a walk in the game.

The Lady Longhorns are scheduled to take to the field again Friday in Autaugaville when they face Autauga Academy in a double-header.
