Lady Longhorns get 10th win

Marengo Academy (10-5-2, 3-3) continues to work its way toward the AISA playoffs after a pair of victories last week.

The Lady Longhorns downed South Choctaw 6-5 Thursday. Payton Stokes pitched four innings with four strikeouts while scattering three walks and three hits. Andrea Edmonds finished the game, working three innings with a strikeout and two hits allowed.

Ryan Hale went 1-for-4 in the game with a RBI and a run scored. Edmonds was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a walk. Macey Petrey finished 1-for-3 with a two-run homer. Anna Michael Crocker had one RBI and a run scored. Stokes was 1-for-3 with a double.

The Lady Longhorns also downed Monroe 12-0 as Edmonds pitched a five-inning no-hitter while striking out eight.

Hale went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. Crocker went 2-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored. Edmonds was 3-for-3 with a triple, four RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Petrey went 2-for-3 with two singles and a run scored.

Stokes finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored while Hannah Freeman was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
