ESPN 104.9 honors Shade Pritchett

It is a rare thing to have a 100-yard receiver in Robby James’ offense. The Marengo Academy head coach has built his Hall of Fame resume with a run-heavy attack that only puts the ball in the air a few times a game.

Last Friday night against Sumter Academy, Shade Pritchett accomplished the rare feat for the Longhorns. In a contest with tremendous playoff implications, Pritchett not only hauled in 106 yards worth of passes, he accounted for every completed Longhorn throw on the night.

In addition to his eight catches and 106 yards, Pritchett caught three touchdowns in the 37-12 win and helped ground the Eagles by recording seven tackles on defense.

The effort was enough to help hand Marengo Academy the No. 2 seed in AISA Class A, Region 2 and earned Pritchett Player of the Week honors from the ESPN 104.9 Coaches Show.

The program recognized Pritchett Tuesday night at Batter Up Sports Grill in Demopolis with a commemorative T-shirt for his remarkable performance.
