DPD offers new instant information service

The Demopolis Police Department began utilizing a new communications service effective Monday that allows it to send important community information directly to residents using the latest technology.

The Nixle Community Information Service allows the department to create and publish messages to be delivered to subscribed residents instantly via cell phone text message and/or e-mail. Notifications can also be accessed online at Nixle’s website at www.nixle.com.

Messages could include anything from weather to crime to missing person alerts as well as other relevant safety and community event information.

Chief Tommie Reese encourages each and every citizen to sign up with Nixle in order to stay informed and up to date with the latest information about the community.

The messages can be sent specifically to residents registered within a quarter mile radius, giving them the opportunity to receive trustworthy information relevant only to their neighborhood. Residents also have the opportunity to decide from which local agencies they will receive information as well as selecting the delivery method for the information.

Residents of Demopolis and those in neighboring communities can immediately begin receiving pertinent information via text message, e-mail and web by registering at www.nixle.com.
