DPD announces drug take back

The Demopolis Police Department will once again partner with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in an effort to rid the city of unneeded prescription medications.

The effort is part of the National Prescription Drug Take Back, a nationwide initiative similar to one that has been very successful for the DPD on a local level in recent years.

As part of the initiative, citizens are encouraged to turn in any unused prescription medications that are no longer needed with no questions asked as to the names on the bottle or the reason for possession of the medications.

The event will take place at the DPD’s Mobile Command Post, which will be in the Vowell’s Grocery Store Parking Lot at 521 U.S. Hwy 80 East in Demopolis from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27.
