DMS to hire personnel to accommodate special needs students

In a special called meeting Monday morning, the Demopolis City Board of Education approved a tentative hiring of personnel to meet the needs of two brothers who are expected to enroll at Demopolis Middle School within the next several days.

The family of the two special needs children are moving to Demopolis from another state, said board attorney Alex Braswell.

The special education teacher or aide will not be hired unless the students enroll in Demopolis schools, said school superintendent Dr. Al Griffin.

The expedited hiring will begin with a posting of the position stipulating that training will be required for certification to work with special needs students.
