Demopolis trounces West Blocton

In its first game in 12 days, Demopolis wasted little time getting the bats going in a 14-0 over West Blocton.

Abbey Latham singled home Courtney Smith in the top of the first to ignite an eight-run inning and start the rout. Natalie Tatum followed with a single to right to score Elly Brown for the 2-0 lead. Two batters later, Bria Brown singled to center to plate Latham and courtesy runner Alex Abrams. After a Kayla Montz single, Napoleon Roberson singled in Bria Brown to make it 5-0 in favor of the Tigers. After a Smith single, Elly Brown doubled in Montz and Roberson to push it to 8-0.

A Kendall Hannah double, Bria Brown single and Montz walk to open the second loaded the bases for the Tigers. Three batters later, Smith singled to drive in Hannah and Brown for the 10-0 advantage. Elly Brown then blasted a three-run shot to right to drive in Montz and Smith for the 13-0 advantage.

The final Demopolis run came in the third when Abrams scored on a Lane Braeden Burbage grounder.

Tatum picked up the win in the circle, striking out four over three innings while scattering three hits.

Demopolis (23-6) travels to Central-Tuscaloosa for an area contest Tuesday.
