Demopolis Middle School football falls to Sweet Water

Demopolis Middle School suffered a rare gridiron setback Tuesday night with a 14-12 loss to Sweet Water.

The Bulldogs got on the board first but failed on the conversion attempt to keep the score at 6-0.

Demopolis responded in its ensuing possession with a touchdown run from Khyrim Bryant that was set up by a 62-yard pass from Logan McVay to Tavion Broadwater. The failed conversion left the game knotted at six.

Demopolis got on the board again with a reverse to Broadwater that went for 25 yards and a score, but again failed on the conversion to leave its advantage at only six points, allowing Sweet Water to cash in a touchdown and a two-point try to win the game.

McVay accounted for 79 yards on the ground and 80 through the air while Broadwater accounted for 25 yards rushing and 62 receiving. Demopolis finished with 235 yards total offense while Sweet Water had 153.
