Demopolis Chamber announces Freedom on the River

The City of Demopolis and the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce want to invite you to attend Freedom on the River 2014. Freedom on the River will be held on Friday, July, 4 at the Demopolis City Landing.

• Best Backyard BBQ: Friday starting at 12 pm there will be a local Backyard BBQ with the overall winner earning a spot in the COTR Backyard BBQ. BBQ handouts and samples will be given away by each team. DJ Fast Eddie will have music all afternoon and there will be activities and inflatables for kids! The cost of entry into George Franks Field is $5 and you can bring your own cooler.

• Children’s Corral: This all new part of FOTR will provide kids of all ages the chance to play Patriotic games, compete in sack races, and plenty of other great surprises. The Children’s Corral opens at 4 p.m. Just look for the banner!

• Vendors: Vendors will be selling food, drinks, and glow sticks all afternoon and into the night.

• Children’s Parade: Dress up in your most patriotic gear and deck out your wagons, strollers, skateboards, and bicycles to win a prize for the most festive and creative entries in one of the three age groups. Register at the Children’s Corral by 5:45 pm, the parade starts at 6 p.m.

• Live Music: Lisa and the E-Lusion from Montgomery, Alabama will fill the banks of the City Landing with music from 6 pm to 8 p.m.

• Fireworks Show: At 9 p.m., Mark Pickel and Extreme Pyrotechnics will light up the sky this 4th of July!
