Changes to Linden’s ChiLLy Fest

ChiLLy Fest LogoLinden’s ChiLLy Fest will be Dec. 13 and Dec. 14. This year we will have the band Chevy 6 performing a free concert at the Chili Cookers Party starting at 8 p.m. on Dec. 13. On Dec. 14, we will have the Chili Cook Off, Vendors, Poot-n-Scoot, Car Show, Christmas Parade and Fireworks Extravaganza. The Christmas Carnival will be here both days. This year’s Grand Marshal will be Rick Scott, a Linden native and the Chief Meteorologist for WVUA-TV in Tuscaloosa.

There are some changes to the Chili Cook Off this year that you will need to know. One change this year is that we are adding a cornbread contest to the Chili Cook Off. Each team will be given the chance to cook cornbread and submit it with their chili sample. The one with the best cornbread will win $100. Also, this year the one with the best chili will win $500, with second place receiving $250 and third place receiving $100.

There will also be some changes to the Christmas Parade of Lights. This year we are doing away with the first, second and third place recognition and changing it to a Best Float contest. The one with the best float will win $100. The theme for this year is Forecast: A White Christmas. There is no fee to enter the parade.
