Bill Heiden, II

William Henry “Bill” Heiden, II of Grove Hill, AL age 76 passed away peacefully Thursday morning January 1, 2015 in the company of his daughter, Terre Harrell. Bill previously lived in Meridian, MS having moved to Grove Hill as his health declined nine years ago. A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s homecoming will be held at Union Baptist Church in Grove Hill on Thursday, January 8, 2015. The family will welcome visitors between the hour of 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by the service at 11:00 am. Known affectionately by his family and friends as “Bill”, “Paw Paw” or “Wild Bill”, he was born to William and Katie Ruth Heiden on December 29, 1938 in Detroit, MI. He was of German decent and of the Lutheran faith. Bill served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring after twenty years. Having traveled to many countries, Germany being his favorite, where he served several tours of duty. Bill was stationed at the Thomasville Radar Base 1963-64 in Thomasville, AL. He was a radar technical sergeant and a forerunner in the computer field. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and a devoted brother, Donald “Don” Joseph Heiden of Meridian, MS. Surviving family members are his only child, daughter, Terre (Rick) Harrell and granddaughter, Cybil Harrell of Grove Hill, AL; sister in law, Donna Heiden of Meridian, MS; nephew, Joe Heiden of Foley, AL; nieces, Misty Heiden Cooper, Sherri Heiden, Brandi Heiden, and a host of grand nieces and nephews. The family suggests contributions in Bill’s memory be made to the Grove Hill Public Library, 108 Dubose Avenue or Grove Hill Relay for Life, 236 North Church Street, both of Grove Hill, AL 36451. Funeral arrangements by O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville, AL.
